Horror Review: Christmas Evil (1980)

A psycho in a Santa suit gets to decide who's been naughty and who's been nice.

How many festive films can you name, go ahead I'll wait here whilst you roll them off.....

There's a-lot isn't there, a hell of a-lot. Problem with a-lot of them is that, if we're truly honest, there very, very similar. "Christmas Evil" is a-lot darker and psychological than most Christmas Horrors.

I've heard someone describe this film as "Santa Clause meets Norman Bates" and I couldn't agree more with the description as it truly fits the films chilling and gloomy tone.

The lead character 'Harry Stadling' is played stunningly by Brandon Maggart, he seems to grasp the characters personality and makes it more than the one dimensional role we're used to seeing in these type in films.

As you can probably tell the film isn't exactly one to watch for a cheery night but if you're in the mood for an artistic, dark, enthralling then this is just for you. It's a-lot better than a-lot of the other festive films that have been made over the years and sadly overlooked.

"Christmas Evil" is not your ordinary festive Horror, but that's a good thing. If you haven't seen it give it a try, if anything you'll at-least be entertained by a killer Santa.
