Icon Of The Month: Linnea Quigley

That's right, this month B-Movie Scream Queen Linnea Quigley is my icon of the month.

Quigley was born in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Dorothy and W. Heath Quigley, a chiropractor and psychologist. She moved to Los Angeles in the late 1970s to pursue her dreams of acting. Quigley's career began in 1975 with small roles in films such as "Wheeler", "Auditions" and "Deathsport". Then in 1978 she portrayed a far from comatose Sleeping Beauty in the soft-core sex spoof "Adult Fairy-Tales".

She carried on playing small parts in such films as "Stone Cold Dead ", "Graduation Day", "Nice Dreams", "Nudes In Limbo", "The Black Room", "Still Smokin'", "Get Crazy", "Young Warriors", "Fatal Games", "Party Games For Adults Only", "Savage Streets", "Silent Night, Deadly Night" and "Kidnapped Girls Agency"

Then in 1985 she gained a-lot of attention in "The Return of the Living Dead", the cult classic helped make her start in the reign of 'Queen of the B's"

Her great run continued through the 80's with films such as "Creepozoids", "Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama", "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers", "Nightmare Sisters", "Night of the Demons", "Blood Nasty", "Witchtrap", and many more.

Then in 1990 she shattered many Horror fans dreams when she got married to special effects artist Steve Johnson. Unfortunately the marriage didn't work out and in 1992 they got divorced.

She continued to act in Horror movies, she even released a Horror themed workout video called "Linnea Quigley's Horror Workout" which showed how popular she was by this point.

In 1991 she starred in a documentary of Scream Queens with fellow B-Queens Brinke Stevens, Monique Gabrielle, Michelle Bauer, Kelli Maroney and Roxanne Kernohan (who died at the young age of 32 from injuries acquired in an automobile accident on February 5th, 1993.). The documentary was "Scream Queen Hot Tub Party" where they all get together in a creepy mansion and decide to get in the hot tub, they talk in the tub and exchange secrets on the do's and don'ts of being a Scream Queen.

Also in 1991 she released a book titled "The Linnea Quigley Bio and Chainsaw Book" and a second book in 1995 titled "I'm Screaming As Fast As I Can: My Life in B-Movies". In both books she talks about her career as a B-movie actress

As the 90's continued so did Quigley's career starring in such films as "Diggin' Up Business", "Blood Church", "Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings", "Vampire Hunter", "Burial Of The Rats", "Jack-O", "Death Mask", "Fatal Frames" and many, many more. She even spread her wings and starred in comedies such as "Beach Babes From Beyond", "The Girl I Want" & "Virgin High"

Even at the turn of the century her career hasn't slowed down starring many films like "Kannibal", "The Monster Man", "Scream Queen", "Corpses Are Forever", "Zombiegeddon", "Frost", "The Rockville Slayer", "Wolfsbayne", "Voices From The Graves", "Hoodoo For Voodoo", "Each Time I Kill", "Spring Break Massacre" and so many more.

Linne Quigley has starred in over 100 Horror films and is still continuing to this day, she also attend several Horror conventions a year to meet fans. She even has her own band called The Skirts which perform from time to time. She states her best friends are her fellow B-Move companions Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer who she talks to nearly everyday. She even does work for PETA, she is well-known for working on PETA's "Lettuce Ladies" campaign, where people educate others about vegetarian lifestyles while wearing only lettuce. She even had a poster made to promote this animal rights campaign.

"You have more say on a low-budget film. You don't have a million people telling you what to do." - Linnea Quigley
