Horror Review: Ghost House (2017)

Pin It now!

A young couple go on an adventurous vacation to Thailand only to find themselves haunted by a malevolent spirit after naively disrespecting a Ghost House.

As someone who enjoys a supernatural Horror I was quite looking forward to this.

After a quite impressive opening I was ready for a fun and hopefully a somewhat frightening film that would at least entertain me. By the time the film had finished I was so glad as I didn't think I'd be able to carry on watching anymore before I fell asleep.

This feature was filled with so many problems that I just couldn't get into it properly, it tries so hard trying to be so many different things that it just becomes a mismatch of a film and it can be quite confusing to watch. Definitely a case of too many ideas trying to be squashed on screen.

One minute you're watching a moody Giallo style feature with lots of red lighting and mood settings, the next you're watching a scene that features music that's very Carpenter-esque and so on. Blend that together with some strangely written characters and it becomes a mess.

This is the films main problem, it tries so hard to be too many things and the bad effects don't help it at all. The thing is this film did have potential if only it had focused on one path and played to it's strengths it could have been a really entertaining Horror feature.

"Ghost House" will undoubtedly have its fans but it wasn't for me, such a shame really.
