Horror Review: The Pyramid (2014)

An archaeological team attempts to unlock the secrets of a lost pyramid only to find themselves hunted by an insidious creature.

Ever since I was a small child I have had an obsession with ancient Egypt, so much so in-fact that I even had hieroglyphic wallpaper.

After years of terrible egyptian themed Horrors and Mummy do-overs I found myself trying not to get my hopes up about this release but in all honesty I couldn't help myself, I just had to see this.

One thing that grabbed my attention was the casting, with the likes of Ashley Hinshaw, Denis O'Hare and for British fans the inclusion of James Buckley wa a very intriguing one.

Although it does start off promisingly it unfortunately has to many faults throughout to really enjoy it, one major thing that got me was the awful effects. I've seen better effects in a lower budget feature, the CGI is seriously THAT terrible.

Another thing is the fact that it can't decide whether it's a found footage style or a narrative film, as it flips between the two it becomes very irritating for the viewer. It all comes together with a highly disappointing ending, which just sums up the whole film really.

"The Pyramid" had promise but just didn't deliver, some may find it okay for a one time watch but I wouldn't recommend it myself.
