Horror Review: Vile (2011)

A group of friends stop to pick up a hitchhiking woman only to end up getting drugged by her with a gas. They awaken to find that vials have been implanted in the base of their skulls.

Some films fly under the radar, for me "Vile" is one of them.

I love viewing a film where you know absolutely nothing about it, well, other than what you've read on the back of the case (if you want the same then stop reading now). That was me going into this feature and I enjoyed the rarity of it.

The films plot is reminiscent of "SAW" and other torture genre flicks, if that's your thing you're in for a treat, if not, don't let that turn you away as the film story is rather intriguing.

Although the film has a gore factor to it and no, it's not at all for the squeamish, there's a-lot is implied so there's something in it for both sets of fans. Plus the acting is very decent and strangely it's Taylor Sheridans only Director credit, he certainly proves he has a knack for it.

As one of the characters point out, the chemicals being collected, Adrenaline, Dopamine, and Oxytocin, are released when the body is in extreme pain, they're also released during sex. So instead of torturing themselves, the members of the group could've just had sex with each other to fill up the vials. But hey, that's a whole other film.

"Vile" is most definitely worth your time and does really well to keep your attention, I highly recommend you give it a try.
