Horror Review: ATM (2012)

On a late night visit to an ATM, three co-workers end up in a desperate fight for their lives when they become trapped by an unknown man.

I've always enjoyed a one location movie, the claustrophobic feeling you get always makes a great tension build and it can always help build a better character profile.

When I first saw the trailer for this film I thought it showed a-lot of potential, it had all the characteristics of being a great one location film. The film follows the trend of many others that have been released recently that tries to add the Horror and thriller genres together.

Unfortunately the film-makers don't seem to want to tread too far into either genre which is a real shame as the film does fit perfectly in both genres and if they'd had more confidence to push it more either way it could have made a greater impact.

I'm not saying the film isn't any good, if anything I found it very entertaining but one problem is you start to pick out the huge gaping plot holes as the film goes on. I'm used to seeing plot holes crop up in films, even some of the greatest films made have them, but this films plot has more holes then Swiss cheese.

The best thing this film has going for it is the killer, a mysterious figure lurking around in the dark, terrifying and terrorising the characters inside the ATM. Also credit to the cast who do put in a great performance even though you can see that even they think the plot seems to be half thought out.

There are better films out there but if you can watch a film without being too judgemental then this makes great viewing. So just sit back, switch your brain off and you may enjoy it. Also remember that there is worse than this out there as-well.
