Horror Review: The Tunnel (2012)

A TV crew decides to investigate the abandoned tunnels under Sydney because of what they believe to be a government cover-up.

I'm not going to lie, I downloaded this movie (Legally, but more on that later) and before watching it I didn't have high hopes for it, I mean a *free* horror movie? How much effort could possibly have gone in to it? Well I was proven wrong and a-lot of effort went in-to it!

Here we have a clever twist to the found footage genre, whilst the film plays out we have the cast being interviewed and giving their side of the story, it's an idea that helps the film flow so well and gives the movie a more authentic feel.

The cast is a bunch of unknowns, which can be a 50/50 in film, it can go terrible because they are not known in the business for a reason, or it can be fantastic and be a springboard to their careers, I'm glad to say that with this film it is the latter.

With a great cast is also a good script and fantastic dialogue, you truly feel genuine chemistry between the characters. Also the scares are well paced out to make the impact even better, they knew exactly what they were doing when they made this film and it's turned out great.

The film does start off slow but it is essential to the plot and you need to pay attention. There is so much tension throughout and at times you will find yourself on the edge of your seat, it truly is great. If you're a fan of the found footage genre then you'll love this, if you're not then at-least give it a try, you never know you might like it.

As I said earlier, the film is legally free to download, for more information on this visit the website by clicking here. Just make sure you turn off the lights ;)
